wildlife & petroglyphs
While having my tea this morning, 6 horses wandered by (in the background below), & then a young pronghorn trotted by like he had an appointment somewhere. (I think that the animal I saw last evening on the ridge above the canyon was actually a pronghorn, not a mule deer.)
Took a short hike in Fantasy Canyon.
Driving away from the canyon toward Vernal, UT, there were many flowers...
...and this guy having his breakfast. Seems that pronghorns are pretty common here.
This afternoon, I took a short steep hike up to see some petroglyphs. They were amazing, with even better ones in an area that is now closed. More photos of them can be found here: mcconkie ranch petroglyphs photos
The petroglyphs are located on this cliff face just above the tree line. It was a bit of a scramble to get up there, but well worth the effort.
