alpine adventures
People keep telling me that I'm brave to take this big trip alone. Mostly, it doesn't feel brave, but this morning was an exception. I towed the trailer over the Guardsman Pass, which tops out at 9,700', with very steep grades, very narrow pavement, & huge drop-offs on both sides of The Pass. It was hair-raising, but doing it successfully made me feel like a real veteran at towing. The last 2 pics on yesterday's post are from on & near The Pass.
After catching my breath, I continued on to the northern section of the Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Though not as dramatic as the canyons between Salt Lake City & Park City, it is pretty. The 3 campgrounds I targeted as possibilities for the next 2 nights were all closed - not sure why. So, I snagged this unofficial/dispersed site a bit further along.
The last of the snow is melting from one end of the site, ...
...and some large animal has been visiting lately, ...
...but the wildflowers are pretty.
I got a StarLink system for these occasions when cell towers are 20+ miles away. Thanks to nephew Ben, I got it fired up, & it's keeping me connected to the world. Love being way out here, but also like being connected a couple of times a day.
