Bannack State Park, MT
I'm camping beside this creek, & enjoyed watching a large family of ducks paddle madly upstream this morning, & then hang around in a quiet spot looking for food. Bannack had several incarnations.
Bannack has been a ghost town since the last residents of the town left in the 1970's, & over 60 buildings still stand.
On a hill above the town is an old cemetery. The stone on the right is from 1882.
Most of the buildings date from the late 1800's, but one in the second pic looks to be mid 1900's.
The brick Meade Hotel was originally the courthouse, & was the first courthouse & the first brick building in Montana. The white building was the Masonic Lodge, but the first floor was used as a school room.
A church & the jail are pretty distinctive.
