North Fork area, Glacier National Park

It's about a 50 mile drive each way on mostly gravel roads, some quite rough, to get to Kintla Lake, the heart of the North Fork area, so many visitors to Glacier stick to the main road. (I'll be going to that part tomorrow.) About 40 miles into this tedious drive, I was having my doubts about it, when I spotted a gray wolf trotting across a meadow - wow! He was too far away to get a pic, but what a great moment; they are pretty elusive so not often seen. Some research back in camp just now revealed that most of the wolves around Glacier are in this North Fork area.

Then the scenery got good.

And there were some interesting finds along the road. I watched a pair of cedar wax wings flying back & forth across this stream & enjoyed the play of light on the water along with the sound - brooks really do babble.

The highlight was Kintla Lake. The water really is these impossible shades of blue.

Ahhhhh, this must be what heaven is like.
