Leaving Parker AZ this am, I saw another bougainvillea in bloom. Sure doesn't feel like January here.
Spent much of the day exploring Mojave National Preserve.
Kelso Dunes are the highest in CA.
Much of the park is covered in scrub. Yes, it was 50*+, but some snow remained from a couple of nights ago.
There are also large areas dominated by Joshua Trees.
The local iron ore mine meant that the town of Kelso boomed during WWII. The little original train station was replaced by this grand building, which operated until 1985. Now, it's a visitor center.
There are scattered mountain ranges all around.
It was such a banner day for pics that I'm saving some for tomorrow.
