2 lighthouses & orchids

A rainbow appeared last evening after my daily post, & I took the opportunity to take one more shot from my campsite, a spot I really loved.

My morning stroll took me across limestone barrens, one of a few small areas on the Great Northern Peninsula where a unique ecosystem flourishes; it's home to several rare flower species. The rare flowers aren't all that exciting, but the yellow orchids caught my eye. The cracks between the rocks shelter a variety of plants. The nearby Flowers Cove Lighthouse isn't accessible, but is cute.

Most of the land here is unoccupied crown land, so, anyone can use it for non-commercial purposes; for example, we RVers can boondock on any of this crown land. Many locals find a promising spot along the highway, & make a garden plot there.

This afternoon, I drove out to see Cape Norman Lighthouse. My obsession with lighthouses is one of the reasons Newfoundland & Labrador called to me. The cape around the lighthouse also consists of limestone barrens & is a protected area.
