Canadian kindness

Had breakfast in a tiny out-of-the-way cafe this morning - the kind of place that seems like it could never be successful, as the town only has about 2 dozen houses in it. Besides the couple who runs it, there was a local couple, a couple staying in some nearby cabins, & a retired couple who stop regularly on the way from their cottage to their home. The banter was quite lively with everyone talking to everyone else. The commuting couple were especially friendly, & gave me their contact info to be in touch when I come back for an extended stay in Nova Scotia. When I went to pay for my breakfast, they had already picked up the bill - wow!

Drove across eastern Nova Scotia almost to North Sydney, where I'll get on the ferry to Newfoundland tomorrow. There are many lovely little churches across Atlantic Canada, similar to those in New England.

The man running the campground where I'm staying tonight was a lobster fisherman for 10 years & still has friends who do that. As a result, he gets more fresh lobster than he wants to eat, & I was the beneficiary of his surplus this evening. He gave them to me already cooked.

Canadians are notoriously kind, & I experienced that in spades today.
