ferry to The Rock
Had about a 40 minute drive to the ferry this morning. The view from an overlook along the way looked like this: through the fog is a beautiful view across a strait.
Many of the goods going into Newfoundland go in on the same ferry that took me across. By the ferry dock were rows of tractor trailers. I'm guessing that one driver & truck delivers the trailer to the dock, then another driver & truck takes it across to NL.
The ferry was the size of a cruise ship with 3 tiers of vehicle parking (2 floors each), plus a floor of general seating, then a floor of cabins, then a floor of reserved seating, for a total of 9 floors. I treated myself to a reserved seat, which was a quite comfy recliner, & I reserved early so that I had a front row seat. Here was my view leaving Nova Scotia & another en route. It was foggy for the entire 7 hour trip.
It's fitting that one's first view of Newfoundland (aka The Rock) includes a lighthouse (not too clear through the window & fog).
