Pinware & Point Amour

My first 5 nights in Labrador are at Pinware River Provincial Park. My campsite is just behind the tree line in the first pic, so the sound of the waves has been lulling me to sleep.

This little guy has been a regular visitor to my campsite. The whalebone is on display at the entrance station.

Point Amour Lighthouse is more than 150 years old, is the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada, & has quite a lot of history associated with it. When the HMS Raleigh, a British warship, wrecked here in 1922, all the locals pitched in to help rescue the 700 crew & keep them until other ships could take back to England. When a local lady who'd been especially helpful was asked by the crown what they could do for her, she asked for, & was granted, ownership of the cove next to the lighthouse; the current population of 8 are her descendants.
