Fogo Island: miscellaneous

Today, I caught the morning ferry from Fogo Island to "The Mainland". The entire part of the province of Newfoundland & Labrador that is Newfoundland is actually an island, but the big main island is referred to as the mainland to distinguish it from the MANY, MANY smaller islands surrounding it. Here's the line up for the ferry.

I went on to the big town of Gander & will post about my time there tomorrow evening. In the meantime, here are a few last pics of Fogo Island; I LOVED Fogo.

These were taken in & near the town of Tilting.

This "rock bridge" was built to connect the town to the island with the main dock, & the local cafe is called Rock Bridge. In the brilliant sunshine yesterday, the water in the cove by my camp site looked like someplace in the Caribbean.

At the local artists' guild, I ordered a small hooked rug to use in my trailer. It will be made in the "Hit and Miss" pattern, which is described on this info board in their store/workshop, specifically the most traditional pattern shown in the 3rd pic here. She'll use colors to compliment the quilt in my trailer, which my dear cousin's quilting group made for me when Manny passed away.
