Fogo Island: town of Tilting
We got some sun this morning on Sandy Cove - a beautiful spot to camp for 5 nights.
I spent the day in & around the town of Tilting, a National & Provincial Heritage Site, due to the number of historical buildings, wharfs, etc. It is considered to be the most Irish town outside of Ireland, hence the Irish flags, & the cemetery with a Celtic cross. Al, a local here since the '50s, led a wonderful walking tour full of history & anecdotes from before the mid '60s when mod cons like roads, modern heating, indoor plumbing, access to a doctor, etc, came in.
