my little adventure

I drafted yesterday's post over breakfast, & was too tired last night to update it, so just put it up as it was. Here's a recap of yesterday's little adventure.

Though only 255 miles, the drive was long enough with a trailer, & lots of hills, constructions zones, & small towns to pass through. Also, I stopped twice for naps (see next paragraph). And travel days include breaking down camp in the am & setting back up in the pm.

I'd been feeling under the weather for several days, & then spiked a significant fever Mon evening - high enough to feel terribly achy & just rotten. Other than some nasal congestion & some coughing, no other symptoms. It seems that there are only two ways to get medical care here: have an appointment with your established doc, or go to the ER. The ERs take care of true emergencies, but also serve as walk-in clinics. It took me some time to sort that all out, but fortunately, my planned drive took me by one of the few hospitals in the province. After 3 hours there, the conclusion was that I've got a virus, & the lovely nurse practitioner prescribed a couple of inhalers for the symptoms.

After a trip to Walmart for the scripts & some groceries, it was onward to the campground. None of this was a big deal, just a bit tedious all around & made for a long day. Oh, & the high of 85* yesterday was a real scorcher for NL, which also sapped a bit of energy.

Today was just a catch up & rest day. Did some laundry & some cooking. Also trying to sort out my fridge that's being moody.

With no new pics from today, here are some trash containers that I've seen. Almost every house has a permanent bin of some kind out by the road. Most are similar to these first two.

A few folks wrap their trash bags in fishing net like this, presumably to keep the animals out.

And some businesses & private homes have something a bit more unusual. (More
on the multicolored houses in a future post.) The lighthouse gets points for creativity, but the boat is definitely my fave so far.
