travel day: miscellaneous
Drove from Woody Point near Gros Morne National Park to the Twillingate area. The scenery was similar other areas, which I've already posted pictures of, so here's variety of pics & thoughts that I've been collecting, but which didn't fit into previous posts.
ATVs & snowmobiles are ubiquitous here & are often used instead of cars for local runs. It's quite common to see a house with one car or truck, two or more ATVs, & 2 or more snowmobiles parked outside. The cars are generally smallish.
One sees many more orange safety vests here - the kind that construction workers wear. Well, not only are construction & related fields common, these vests are worn in the quarries, on fishing boats, & by anyone working in a harbour. Newfies are working people.
Many folks forgo dryers, & quite nice houses will have a drying line outside, often in front of the house.
A pretty cute rig appeared in a parking lot. And that gas price is in Canadian dollars, but still, $155 for fill up - ouch!
Since a number of homes burn wood for heat, wood harvesting is common, so these small woodlots are all over by the roadsides. The sleds are used to move wood & other items around in the winter.
