Twillingate area: the coves

Today, I visited a local winery, a small local history museum, & several more coves in the area. These Newfoundland ponies were at the winery.

The little coves around NL have become an obsession, & the Twillingate area has about a million of them. The rest of this post is mostly for me to look back on my trip; you, dear reader, may want to skip it. These pics were taken over the last several days.

I put up pics of Sleepy Cove in a previous post, but am so enchanted with it that I had to add a few more, this time with the blue sky.

I'd wondered about these pieces of equipment scattered around Sleepy Cove. Well, an exhibit at the lighthouse explained that there was a copper mine here for 10 years in the early part of the last century, and these items are left from that operation; the town painted them in recent years.

Sleepy Cove also has a little beach sheltered from the wind...there's often a boat of some kind chugging past...and it's beautiful even when fogged in.

Today, I walked up on the heights on either side of the cove to look down on the area.

Wild Cove's beauty is enhanced by the fox glove, which has spread from a nearby garden all along its shore.
