Cupids & Brigus
Cupids & Brigus are 2 towns near the Base of the Bay de Verde peninsula.
In Cupids, my first stop was a little hike up to Spectacle Head for views over the town & harbour - fantastic! There were many ripe blueberries to eat along the way. The 3 pano pics put together show the whole 360* view on top.
Across the bay in the town of Cupids, there was a view back to where I'd just hiked on Spectacle Head, & a monument to John Guy, who originally settled the town.
At the Cupids Cove Plantation Provincial Historic Site, a little museum details the early history of the town starting with John Guy's landing in 1610. The archeological digs all around the site were interesting, but the honeysuckle vine covered in pink flowers got most of my attention..
Brigus is the cutest town I've seen in NL. Others are in beautiful settings, but most of their buildings are ho-hum. Brigus has some cute houses & a public garden. There are stone walls along the banks of the several steams running through the town.
