St. John's area
The light rain & thick fog at the beginning of today's hike soon gave way to thin clouds; it was a fantastic short walk out to a point, part of the famous East Coast Trail.
On the way out & back, there were great views across the bay & back to the cove.
Much of the trail went across expanses of solid rock. (Meredith, this trail's for you!) It's hard to tell from the pics, but there are various kinds of rock along the way.
The views from near the point were just great. I stopped just shy of the actual point, as it wasn't clear that I could get out there & back, but a braver soul was out there fishing. The last 3 pics show a 360* panorama from the point.
After the hike, I drove down the coast a bit, stopping at Middle Cove on the way to the Ocean Sciences Centre, part of Memorial University of Newfoundland. The Centre had aquariums & a touch tank, & the views in the cove were just great.
