St. John's

Signal Hill National Historic Site preserves the long history of the dramatic headland at the mouth of the harbour. There are several trails leading to lovely views of the harbour, the city, & the nearby headlands to the north & south. The last pic in this group shows Signal Hill looking from Fort Amherst on the other side of the entrance to the harbour.

Fort Amherst was located on the other side of the entrance to the harbour. All that's left is the small lighthouse. The last pic in this group shows Fort Amherst Lighthouse looking from Signal Hill.

Around the city of St. John's, I enjoyed looking at all of the port installations & the variety of architecture.

Quidi Vidi is a cute fishing village right on the edge of the city of St. John's. With a brewery, an artisans' studio & a couple of upscale restaurants, a variety of folks were there on a rainy Saturday afternoon, including a wedding party.
