to Nashville

Drove about 280 miles thorough Kentucky & Tennessee to Nashville today. After setting up camp in Montgomery Bell State Park, I went into Nashville to spend 2 nights with my auntie.

Two big discoveries on the drive were a Buc-ees in Kentucky & a Piggly Wiggly in north central Tennessee. After hearing about Buc-ees for some years, my first visit to one was in Texas in the summer of 2022; they are quite something. I've been a Piggly Wiggly fan since childhood, as my grandmother used to grocery shop at one, & the name always cracked up us grandchildren; shopping at several of them as an adult, I've discovered that they carry regional brands not available around home. If you don't know these two stores, both are interesting experiences should you come across them on your travels.

There must be a couple of dozen Dinosaur Land or Dinosaur World locations off of interstate exits around the country. This one is near Mammoth Cave, KY. Such roadside kitsch always catches my eye.

This is the second place along my route selling Trump merch. If this was a thing in 2016 &/or 2020, I completely missed it. I've always thought that candidate merch was only available online & at campaign events - interesting. There seem to be fewer campaign signs for either party than in past years (maybe less general interest in the campaign?), but very heavy occasional concentrations of signs (maybe more enthusiasm among those interested?).
