Ajo, AZ

Ajo is a town of about 3,000 souls about 20 miles north of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. It's plaza & some surrounding buildings boast Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. Here's the back entrance to the plaza.

In the center of the plaza is a park rimmed with palm trees, & the north end opens up to 2 old churches & a former school.

The beautiful old school has been renovated to house 30 artist's studios & residences.

The old churches are simple with some interesting details.

The south end of the plaza, a former train station, is now the visitor center.

The Oasis Coffee shop hosts most of the town out front in the morning & a Bible study in the back: the definition of oasis on the wall has the word "water" crossed out & replaced with "coffee" (didn't show up in the pic too well).
