Pima Air & Space Museum

Though I'm not especially interested in air planes, this place pretty interesting.

It has 250,000 square feet of hangar space...

...& 80 acres of outdoor space. 352 planes rockets are described on their website.

Many of the planes have interesting stories or features. This one is a 1930s "airliner"; since there were so few airports at that time, it was designed to land on water.

During WW II, the US was expecting a shortage of aluminum, so airplane prototypes were built of other materials like wood & this one of stainless steel; the shortage of aluminum never materialized.

This plane was used as Air Force One, & then brought back the 52 American hostages from Iran in 1981, & later US POWs from the Iraq war.

This chopper carried presidents in the 1960s.

This plane was painted pink for use in the desert in the Middle East.

This is a Boeing 787...

... & there were a number of B-52s.

This strange looking thin is a cargo helicopter that can carry 27,000 lbs.

Many of the planes just looked cool.

This micro jet cough my eye. Who knew that such a thing exists?
