post- post-rally

Still hanging around Dome Rock neat Quartzsite, AZ, with a few other folks left from the rally.

Last night, as several of us sat around a campfire, our neighbor started screaming; she thought that we were being invaded by aliens. It was a Falcon 9 rocket launching from Vandenberg Space Force Base (in California) carrying StarLink satellites into orbit - pretty cool sight. Also cool to be hanging out with folks who just happened to know exactly what this was.

Today, I went to see an intaglio in the nearby desert. An intaglio is an "engraved or incised work where the design is sunk into the surface..., and is the opposite of cameo, where the design is in relief." Though interesting in theory, it wasn't much to look at - much better from the air, so I'm told.

The scenery near the intaglio was worth the drive.

I've been camping next to a couple from the Yukon who have a great bumper sticker on their trailer. Their trailer & another one parked near us & mine are all the same model & were built within a week or so of each other; it was fun to figure this out.
