a ghost town
The ghost town of Pearce was rather underwhelming, but I poked around there for a bit. The big rock by the cemetery sign with the holes in it was used by the gold miners, though the sign didn't explain what it was used for. The local museum has closed, & the building is for sale. :-(((
This row of ancient prickly pears caught my eye, & I had launch at this local dive.
My site here is one of four, but I'm the only one here on a property of perhaps 5+ acres, likely the smallest property for 10 miles in any direction. Camping in the desert is fantastic, but a special precaution should be taken. Pack rats are attracted to vehicle engines overnight, & can destroy the electrical system; by leaving the hood up & putting a light in there, pack rats are discouraged...one hopes.
These sunsets never get old. (These pics are taken with just a cell phone without filters or such.)
