driving BC, last day

In my mind, this trip is divided into these 6 Phases.

    1 - driving to BC

2 - Escape Rally in Osoyoos, BC

3 - driving through lower 2/3 of BC

4 - The Real Trip = exploring northern BC, The Yukon, & Alaska

5 - driving east through Canada

6 - Niagara Falls Rally (includes half day drive home)

Today, I completed Phase 3, which was only 2 days, but they were long ones. Tomorrow, the 4th phase, The Real Trip, begins; this is what I drove more than 3,000 miles to do.

Even though today was still part of the preliminary phases, there was some pretty scenery, which makes me excited to come back & explore this area.

Far from any town, at a cafe attached to a lodge & campground, I got a hamburger (BBQ & brie) & French fries that were as good as any I've ever had any where else. There are surprises everywhere.

The small town of Chewynd is known for its chainsaw carvings & is home to the annual Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship - who knew that there was such a thing? With a population of just over 3,000 & a trading area of about 7,000, it's a surprise to drive into town & see dozens upon dozens of chainsaw carvings scattered around. There are many more that are not shown below. If this isn't enough info for you, here is a link to more: https://www.gochetwynd.com/visitors/chainsaw-carvings/
