knives - the Ulu Factory

Ulu knives are "Alaska famous". This type of knife has been used by natives here for at least 1000 years & likely 4000 years. There's a display case  of old/ancient ulus next to a display of their standard selection of knives. 

There are many other items for sale here, some like chopping blocks which are related to their knives & some typical Alaska souvenirs. Then there was the case of their specialty knives.

The drive & walk up Flattop Mountain (just the short trail) was worth the effort for the view over Anchorage. 

a neighborhood

This small neighborhood of about 12 homes features a private airstrip, & each home has a hangar for their plane. 

a garden - Alaska Botanical Garden (Yes, I got carried away with pics.)
