Girdwood area

Until today, the weather has been either perfect or hot & mostly sunny. The only rain has been at night. After periods of sun this morning, the afternoon turned dreary with some light rain showers & a high of 55* - not bad, but not great. Will likely get lots more of this sort of weather now that I'm on/near the coastal areas. Can't complain about 7 weeks of good weather!

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

The animals here have all been rescued & cannot survive in the wild. Their enclosures are quite large, & they seem to be very well cared for.

One moose came so close that I could have reached out & touched her - very cool.

2 grizzlies

caribou

elk - males & females
a marten & a porcupine

Others seen include many bison, another porcupine, a lynx, & a Sitka deer. Those hiding include black bears, wolves, & coyotes.
