Seward

The Historical Society Museum

Both the museum & the local library are located inside this funky building, with a lovely little garden in the back.

The 9.2 earthquake, the largest ever in the US, was a major event in all of these coastal communities in the southern part of Alaska, as huge parts of towns were wiped out. Fortunately, it happened in the  evening, so there weren't many people on the docks or waterfront.

This shot is looking from the harbor to the waterfront campground where I'm staying.

The old telegraph office, beautifully restored, is now a summer rental house.

from my campsite - an active harbor

Anything from 2 cruise ships to an otter came by during my 3-day stay.
