arriving in Ketchikan

more ferry

There sunset from the ferry last night went on for an hour & was spread across the entire sky at one point. I'm happy that the sun is now setting at a reasonable hour so we old folks to stay up to see it - no more midnight sun. :-)

Among the folks I met on the ferry was an American couple who are living in Italy with their 2 high-school aged children. They are moving their aunt from Alaska to Washington state, hence the U-hauls on the ferry. And, this is the twin to the ferry I was on.

Ketchikan

The Rock statue tells the story of how Kechikan came to be. Chief Johnson, a Tlingit stands on top, as his people were here first. He is surrounded by a fisherman, a miner, a logger, a bush pilot, a frontierswoman, & a Native drummer.
