The Cassiar
Today's drive took me along 2 BC highways: the Stewart-Cassiar & the Glacier Highway.
The scenery along the Cassiar started out rather subtle, but became more dramatic further along.
There's virtually nothing but trees along the northern section of this highway, except for the tiny town of Dease Lake. The grocery store here is really a modern-day general store, where you'll see...
outboard motors between the fresh meat & greeting cards/gift wrap...& puzzles next to the frozen food.
The Glacier Highway goes to the village of Hyder.
When one crosses from Stewart, BC, to Hyder, Alaska, there is no border station going into the US; it's the only unmanned border crossing into The States. This seems to be because, though you have crossed into the US, there's really no way for you to do anything but turn around & cross right back into Canada at the same spot.
