 Kluane Lake

Kluane National Park

Haines Junction - the gas station

The gas station features an amazing view, a sort of town square around a carved statue, above ground fuel tanks, & an eclectic customer base. It was a pretty interesting place considering that the population here is just 688.

Haines Junction - the VC & pub

In the local visitor centre/cultural centre is this raised relief map showing that Kluane National Park contains more than 100 glaciers & only the fringes of the park are ice-free.

With little competition, the local pub keeps flexible hours. Their taco salad was good.

Haines Junction - ???

This "sculpture" that has been described as a "cupcake" sits at the intersection of 2 highways. Just when you think that you've seen everything...

As I entered the campground this evening, a black bear was strolling along the road; my campsite is about 100 yards from that spot, so I'm staying close to the truck & trailer.
