Smithers to Prince George, BC

 around Smithers

The wildfire smoke last evening created a bit of a sunset.

There's a bandstand in the small downtown park.

The town was settled by Dutch & Swiss.

There are many murals around town.

Though pretty good overall, many items here had no date attached to them, even those where they could have figured a date. For example, a doll was donated by Dorothy Smith, who got it when she was 5 years old; obviously, an approximate date could have been calculated when the donation was made. On the plus side, the eclectic collection was well organized & displayed.

                    a room of medical artifacts

This item caught my eye. It was written by members of the Palling Women's Institute in 1951 & is covered in animal skin with beading done by 2 indigenous women in the area.

The scenery today was not dramatic,& the wildfire smoke was constant.
