Jan 27 - 29

I'm winding down my hiatus here in Parker where I've camped in one spot for almost a month. While it's been fine for this winter when I wanted a break, my thought is to move around more & see more in future years.

There are often quite a few birds hanging out in the river by the RV park. And here are some of the plants around Parker.

mesquite tree (most are scrubbier)                                 eucalyptus tree

I want to know what this is!

The day before yesterday, I drove down to Parker (about 7 miles), then across the Colorado River into California, then about 5 miles back north along the river to a small BLM campground. There, I visited my friend from Alaska & 2 other friends who arrived to camp there. It's a quiet, lovely spot, where I plan to camp next year for a week or two. The burros there are wild, but one came right up into the campsite.

Tomorrow, I'll start back to my daily reporting here.
